OCD Lofts
Started by Denis O’Driscoll in 2019 flying in the WRRPA, In my first season I was lucky to be given birds by three well know fanciers namely Cedric McDermot, Andre Botha and Oliver Radford. As with any new fancier it was quite a struggle in my first year. It was only after Mr Lionel Botha offered to be my mentor that things started to improve.
Under his guidance I managed to fly my first and only club win for 2019 with a bird bred by Andre Botha – ZA 18 151286, however the bug had bitten, and I decided that I needed to acquire some stock birds.
The first auction I attended was a SAMDPR auction hosted by Crusaders club in Pretoria, where I was lucky enough to buy the 3rd ace bird from the SAMDPR and a few others. It was at this auction that I met John Du Preez and when top pigeon held an auction of his birds in Alberton I managed to buy some top producers on his auction.
I also met and acquired some top stock birds from Ferdie Lubbe, and 10 babies from Chris Swanepoel.
2020 under the advice of my mentor I decided to fly in the PSWU combine as it suited my loft location better. Thanks to the advice and mentoring from Lionel Botha my 2020 season was much better and OCD Lofts managed to end the season in 2nd place in the Magalies Club and 3rd in the PSWU combine behind GJT and Stear Painter.
In 2020 a fiend of mine, Nico Jansen, became interested in racing pigeons, as he lived in Pretoria, I suggested he contact Ferdi Lubbe to as for assistance. Ferdi offered to mentor him and I bred him some babies.
2021 has been a great year so far. OCD lofts managed 1st in the short distances and 2nd in the long distance at Magalies Club. Middle distance is still not finished.
2021 Nico Jansen with the help of Ferdi Lubbe managed to win the Pretoria Union Sprint series. These are some of the birds currently on auction.
